I've read quite a few Freida McFadden books, and while I usually fly through them in one sitting, The Tenant didn't hit quite the same way for me. I'd give it a solid 3 out of 5.

The story definitely had Freida's trademark mystery and fast pace. It was entertaining enough in the beginning to keep me turning the pages, but it never fully delivered the intense, edge-of-your-seat thriller vibe I was hoping for.

It felt like a mix between plot-driven and character-driven, with a handful of unusual (and honestly, pretty unlikable) characters thrown in. The only one I really liked was the fish, and yes, I was genuinely sad about what happened to it.

Like many of Freida's books, this one had that familiar "something's off" feeling running through it, and the twists were there, but a few moments were so over-the-top that I couldn't take them seriously. At times, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be shocked or just laugh.

There were still things I appreciated: the pacing made it a quick, easy read, and the setting fit the story well. A few minor characters, especially Quillizabeth, added just enough weird energy to keep things interesting and unpredictable.

In the end, The Tenant was fun, fast, and definitely different, but not my favorite. It's a decent weekend read if you're already a Freida fan, but I wouldn't start here if you're new to her books.
